FFL Week 8

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

I'm not sure what that means, but a French epithet feels appropriate in a week of upheaval and movement. We have a new leader, just as I predicted a couple of weeks ago, in Stathi. He may not have finisihed as the week's top scorer, but 15 points was enough to see him leap into the top spot. Once again Rooney was the chief provider, with 7 points. Let's hope Ferguson's claim that Rooney's goals come in spurts is not simply a ploy to keep the little fat balding man motivated (and the big fat balding man at the top of the table - sorry, that seemed to type itself).

It was Mike, with 17 points, who topped the scoring charts this week, his strike force of Berbatov and Robinho yielding 5 apiece. James also continued his impressive recent form with 14 points, lifting him into 2nd place.

As for me, well, how the mighty have fallen. 15 points in 3 weeks just doesn't do it at this level. However, Cech, Carvalho, Cahill, Santa Cruz, and Diouf can't possibly all miss another week this season. Not that any of you fuckers care, and why should you?

So, here are the points:

LEAGUE TABLE

Diff
Total Points

1st Stathi 86
8 2nd James 78
9 3rd Nick Ath 77
14 4th Nick PC 72
18 5th Mike 68
27 6th Sid 59
29 7th Theo 57
29 8th Don 57

Amr Zaki's double at Anfield finally resulted in the scramble for his signature, with 3 managers bidding for him. Alas, Alves (Donald) and Owen (Theo) couldn't match Tevez in value, so he goes to Nick PC (who managed to take time out from planning his holiday to ring some changes). However, Nick's attempt to jettison Petrov for Malouda was ambushed by Theo, who ditches Babbel (there was only £1k between the bids).

That's it for another week.

Your Chairman

UPDATE:
Oh, and I forgot to mention that James bought Peter Crouch last week for Dean Ashon. Sorry, it was that silly international week.
