FFL Week 5

It's been a subdued start to the season, with a lot of expensive players - Fabregas, Gerrard, Ronaldo, Rooney, Berbatov - being outscored by Wigan defenders, and normally dependable defences - Everton, Portsmouth - haemorrhaging goals at an alarming rate. So although there's a gap of 22 points from top to 4th already, I imagine this will all change dramatically over the next few weeks.

The biggest mover this week was Stathi, in his attempt to be the 1st to win back-to-back titles. He deserves some credit too for his 13 points this week - 10 of them came from his early substitutions: Hart (3), Denilson (5) & Ireland (2). Good buys, all of them. The David James debacle turned out to be a blessing (unless you're Mike, who I imagine has been foaming at the mouth over the last couple of weeks - losing to Liverpool, buying David James, selling John Carew, bottom of the FFL table).

Spare a thought for Sid too - Downing misses a penalty, Gerrard has a good goal disallowed, van Persie gets dropped and he's got a Portsmouth defender to top if all off. No surprise to see him score the fewest points of the season so far: -2.

The table looks like this:

FFL 2008/09
LEAGUE TABLE
Diff Total Points
1st Nick Ath 62
7 2nd Nick PC 55
16 3rd Stathi 46
22 4th Don 40
24 5th Theo 38
25 6th Sid 37
27 7th Mike 35
27 8th James 35
There were no transfers this week. Quite surprising really.

Your Chairman.
