RE: The Rams & Stagathon

Firstly, i'm sure you will all join me in congratulating the mighty Rams for reaching the promised land of The Premiership. Enjoy the ride my friend as the euphoria is lileky to be short-lived...

More importantly it has come to my attention that Sat 11th August is the first day of the 2007-08 Premiership season. We'll need to re-assess once the fixtures come out but if Spurs are at home then at least 5 of us have a problem. Ditto with Arsenal with 3 people.

Discuss.

Yesterday's euphoria is already a headache today, but the most welcome headache in the world. Agreed, we're going straight back down but fuck it - it'll be fun. If we hold on to Davies, who knows?

How do you know that the 1st day of the season is 11 August? I've booked my train ticket down and everything.

It is indeed the first day of the season. Charity Shield is on the 5th.
Can we not do the FFL thingy and boozy stuff and BBQ on Friday???? And then continue on Saturday evening with poker etc etc after whoever is going to football gets back????

By the way Congrats to the Rams - whoohoo Pride Park away! (by many accounts a top away day!)

Why don't we wait and see what the fixtures are on the Saturday first. Surely the big games will be on Sunday anyway. If not, we could have the FFL auction on the Friday night and do everything else on the Saturday, ie bbq and poker. Fixtures are out a couple of weeks I think.

Good idea. I'm guessing United will be on sunday - champions generally are live on first weekend of season. Don't forget the new setanta deal which allows them to broadcast on saturday afternoon (old PremPlus time)- they will want one of the big boys in the first few weeks!!
Our only hope is that United are on Sunday (away please), Spurs on Sunday also (up and coming team, new signings, big buzz around them etc etc). This leaves Arsenal playing away on Saturday against someone like Reading. Lovely - jobs a good'un!

Friday sounds like a great idea... if you're a full time bum or a teacher with 37wks holiday a year. The rest of us have to work on Fridays in August. Remember? We work to pay taxes so that the rest of you can carry on being full time bums or on holiday 37wks a year. Come to think of it, what's the difference?
