We (long suffering) Spurs' fans have, over the years, been linked with a numebr of world class players only to see them sign for some one else...luckily what hasn't ever really happened is that we rushed to buy someone pathetically average instead. So, when I read this little story earlier you can understand why it made me smile:
Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 31, came close to joining Arsenal in
2001 - even posing in a Gunners shirt - but despite Malmo agreeing a £3m fee for
their player, he went to Ajax and Arsenal signed Francis Jeffers from Everton
for £8m.
So next challenge is to the list the greatest team we never had....
