30 years since this............

.........how old do you feel now?????

Great article

Controvery time.

Couldn't resist.

Have held back for too long.

At least I didn't write this.

Predictions

Right, a new feature (not sure for how long though)

Weekend preview and score predictions:

Arsenal v Chelsea: 2-1
Arsenal have surprised many with their results and cutting edge. Maybe Wenger isn’t the cunt Arsenal fans think he is and that he actually does know how to run a football club.
Definites for this game - Cole will get booed. Terry will get booed. If Arsenal go 1-0 down, they will get booed.
Cazorla is quality and the midfield three are the best in the league at the moment – and without Wilshire! (Who allegedly has fully recovered from his injury but has been given extended 'time off' to deal with matters of the nose!!!! (a la Rosicky)
Chelsea look good also but something is missing. Torres still doesn’t look right and are there too many playmakers? Marin, Oscar, Hazard, Mata. Where is the width?
Oh and that cunt Terry is still captain, apparently. Vile, loathsome, odious, cunt of a man. Please can Diaby smash him into pieces?

Everton v Southampton: 3-2
Goals galore in this game. Southampton play with freedom, Everton the surprise of the season.

Fulham v Manchester City: 0-0
Berbatov out of today’s game (according to Skysports) so could be a problem scoring for them. City have not convinced. A draw?

Norwich v Liverpool: ?
Please tell me you have been watching that fly-on-wall Liverpool documentary? They are the gift that keeps giving. Brendan Rogers in this week’s episode: “You've got the lot. Just stay on your feet. You can press up to the ball, just stay on your feet” Yep, to jonjo Shelvey.
Another one:
“Today, Liverpool are at Harvard University practice field. Class is in session, with Professor Brendan Rodgers...”
Seriously, this is fucking comedy.
The game? Norwich to win 10-0

Reading v Newcastle: 0-3
Reading are shit. Pardew has just been handed an EIGHT year contract. Easy away win. Question is, more goals than naked, fat fuckers in the away end?

Stoke v Swansea: 0-0
Next

Sunderland v Wigan: 3-0
Fletcher to keep scoring. Wigan to keep whinging.

Manchester United v Tottenham: 1-2
Yes it’s Chris Foy the referee. Yes he will give United a penalty. And yes United will miss it.
"Seriously worried about United’s midfield" (no not this season, I said this FIVE years ago). Anyway, the granny shagger is back so maybe the game can be played away from Spurs’ more dominant and better balanced midfield. Says a lot when United's player of the season so far is Rafael!!!!
United have yet more injuries. Saw a stat this morning. In the last three FULL seasons, United have had 50 (FIFTY) players injured for six weeks or more. Fergie, forget sorting the midfield out get rid of your medical staff!!!
Difficult game to call. Spurs have a shocking record at the Theatre of Dreams but United are currently playing shockingly bad. Spurs to win it late...................

Aston Villa v West Brom: 3-3
Brummy derby. Give a shit.

Updated table

Follwing a mini-audit, (TC has in fact one less point), here is the table going in this week's fixtures

Transfers for you boring fuckers

............clearly TC has been busy doing other things so he is exempt from being a BORING FUCKER (unless of course he is dull at intercourse!!)

Anyway here are this week's substitutions:

Plenty of attempts to get Chelsea's Oscar but Nick PC won through thanks to the value of A.Johnson being higher than Cabaye (Harry) and Duff (MP)

Confirmed:

Nick PC:
Jonhson OUT Oscar IN
Balotelli OUT Lambert IN

Stathi:
Mignolet OUT
Lindergaard IN

McNick:

FFL Week 5...........

A week for goalscoring defenders where clean sheets were again at a premium.

Rafael (clearly took my advice when I told him he had to add goals to his game!!!), Cole, Lescott, Koscielny

I won't dwell on any match or incident. Suffice to say Shelvey's (deserved) sending off evened it up in the middle of the pitch. How the fuck can United go through a season relying on 39 and 38 year olds????

NOTE: Winning the ball does NOT mean it is NOT a foul. Both feet OFF the ground is enough to warrant being accused of being a) reckless b) dangerous c) not being in control

This week Nick PC top scored with 19 points thanks to three Ba goals and seven points from Baines

James wins the "Gervinho" award for bottom score with 3. Did not help that he only had four players start matches this weekend.

McNick still top and extends his lead to 11 points. 17 points separates second and sixth. Don and Sid battling out to stay off the bottom.

Here is the table:

Observations:
James and Harry have yet to get a point from their defence.
Stathi has minus points from his defence
Mike has no points from his attack
Nick PC has no midfield points

Players of the opening month so far:

Cazorla - better than Silva and Mata
Fletcher - does not miss
Kagawa - does not give the ball away
Fellaini - worth two players in midfield (Fergie are you reading????)
Podolski - looks a bargain

Transfers after tomorrow's deadline

Your Chairman

PS

A Traingle - just one of the many things that has more points than Liverpool
Also Raheem Sterling has more children (17 years old!) than Liverpool have points

FFL Week Four............

Just a quickie this week.

McNick and TC clear at the top with seven points separating them. McNick top scores with 15.

Eight points separates James in third from Harry in sixth.

Here is the table:

Transfers:

Unlike Sir Alex Ferguson I am trying to to make much needed changes to my midfield

Pieri - McLean OUT Sterling I

Having clearly bought the wrong forwards from North London I also tried to remedy my error and tried to buy Defoe. In a three-way battle Stathi also went for Defoe as did Sid.

Sid offered Graham - price  5.9m
Stathi offered Wellbeck - price 6.9m
Pieri offered Adebayor - price 6.9m

Dead-heat rules apply. Stathi gets Defoe as he submitted the transfer six hours earlier!!!!

Viva Ronaldo..........................................

Over and out

Last week's transfers........

Gentlemen, sorry for the internet silence, been too busy.

First due to a couple of queries, here are the transfer rules as contained in the spreadsheet you all have:

The transfer week runs from Monday to Monday. This means that transfers made at any time during the week do not come into play until the first game of the week (usually Monday night at 8pm) kicks off.

It therefore makes sense to make the transfer as near as possible to 8pm on Monday night because you won't be able to pick up points any earlier. The reason I've highlighted the first game of the week is to account for bank holiday fixtures which can kickoff as early as midday.

In such cases, the transfer deadline moves forward to that early kickoff. The reason for this rule is to eliminate picking up cheeky mid-week points.

Reminder about transfers. If two or more managers want the same player, the outgoing player with the highest value on the FFL website takes it. If the values are equal, the first bid wins.

Remember that you can also nominate a 2nd choice player if your first choice target fails.

email is: dwightyorkecuptransfers@hotmail.com

Last week transfers are as follows:

TC – Allen IN, Lallalalannanana OUT

James – Lloris IN, Lindergaard OUT

Deafening silence from our correspondent at Old Trafford...

We've got used to the ravings and rantings everytime the "bin dippers" get some negative publicity (mostly justified, sometimes eversoslightly OTT) but after events at the weekend the boot is firmly on the other foot. (Rico - where are you?!)

Aside from a blatant dive and abominable challenge from Welbeck (disappointing because I genuinely rate the kid), there was the incident of the (albeit minority) abuse from the crowd in respect - or rather lack of respect - Hillsborough. I remember not that long ago some of the chants that used to go on at football matchs - the gassing noise made as Spurs' fans, the aeroplane chants at Utd fans, the incessant racist abuse but thankfully that has been consigned to the darker corners of football's memoirs. The level of disrespect shown at the weekend is unforgivable.

We can go on  and argue about who was guilty, who was to blame, etc forever but the facts remain that INNOCENT men, women and children died that day. In any part of the world you show respect for that.

The big question now is should there be a punishment (yes), who should give it (definitely from within the club, arguably from the FA) and what should it be (answers on this blog).

FFL 2012/13

Gentlemen welcome to the 17th edition of the Dwight Yorke Cup

After another successful auction evening on the morning after the (long) night before, how does everyone feel?

Will Harry's United strikeforce strike gold for the Lord of Chingford?

Will an Arsenal striker actually score a goal or will the Pieri brothers rue the moment they splashed out 100K each on Podolski and Giroud?

This year's moneybags purchase was Hazard into Team Marneros. Will it be money well spent for a playmaking midfielder classed as a forward?

When will Smalling and Richards play for Donald?

When is Aguero back for Sid and will Nani start another game for United?

If Ferguson really is going to go 4-2-3-1 then some managers will not be happy. Four forward positions to accommodate Kagawa, Young, Nani, Valencia, RvP, Rooney, Wellbeck.

How many games will Ferdinand play this year for Nick as his creaking body struggles to play two games a week?

Can Bent rediscover his scoring touch? If he does, TC has a lethal strikeforce with Tevez.

Will the carthorse (Carroll) start scoring again for  McNick as he again built his team from the back.

Shrewed signings? How about:

Fletcher for 0.5m?
Enrique for 0.1m?
Sahin for 3.2m?
Sessegnon for 1.8m?
Evans for 0.2m?
Berbatov for 4m?

and so on...........................

Plenty of questions but also plenty of transfer opportunities.

Remember the week runs from Monday to Monday so transfer deadline is before the first game that week, usually an 8pm KO on Monday. Be aware of earlier Monday kick-offs.

Here is the first table of the new season. McNick leads from TC thanks largely to 11 points from Michu. Sid is the early front (back?) runner for the wooden spoon with a a total of 6 due to -5 points from his defence. But it is of course early days.
